50. 1 Week Healing

Hard to believe its only been a week since I arrived home with my mask and sobbed that treatment was finally over.

But considering my world has been tiny in the last 7 days I'm really not surprised.

Apart from occasional trips to the kitchen, or what could almost be considered a road trip, to my cabin at the bottom of the garden to reset the heater a couple of afternoons, I have mostly been laying in bed, with Lottie, snoozing, and buying stuff off the internet I neither want or need 😬

I thought on Tuesday miracles were going to happen and everything were just easing off and it would all be plain sailing and I'd be right as nine pence by the weekend... šŸ™„

Sadly not!

The throat/tonsil pain ebbed and flowed all week between just tolerable to excruciating and the pain meds I had been relying on seem to be controlling it less and less as time goes on.

Even drinking the fortisip shakes has been hellish at times, in that they just seem to stick to everywhere thats sore and burn like a b*st*rd! 🤬

On Wednesday I had the day from hell as the salt taste ramped up, and was so so strong, making me constantly feel like I was going to be sick, and I had the same glass in the bottom of my mouth up under my tongue feeling I got right at the very beginning in week 3 when the pain started.

I sort of prayed, everything was rewinding and going back to nothing, but no, Thursday it was still there, not as salty, and pain back in my tonsil area and roof of my mouth at the back, but still very much there, making every waking minute a joy to be alive šŸ™„šŸ«©

Today, when I woke up, I did what I always do, lay, think does my mouth hurt on a scale of 1-10....then ok, try and swallow and rate that 1-10.

Things were slightly easier, but I had taken 3 lots of oxycodone since the previous evening, which had caused me to basically slip into an opiate coma where I'd been in a world of the most weird dreams as usual. 😱

Through the day, I managed to survive on salt water rinses, and benzydamine mouth wash when it got too snarky and no meds.

So I decided, in for a penny, in for a pound and risked a quarter of a tub of Sainsbury's taste the difference ham and petit pois fresh soup.

It was ok, my mouth I mean, the soup is lovely, but no not alot of burning and I got through half of the portion before having to stop and rinse.

AND I could taste the peas šŸ¤øā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤øā€ā™€ļø

Being all confident I waded in with a columbian coffee and double cream mousse also taste the difference from sainsbury for dessert, and managed all of 2 teaspoons before screaming, handing it over to Paul and rushing for the cold tap. šŸ”„

But I managed something, and after a good swooshing, was no worst for wear and have managed to get until 9pm before taking my first pain meds of the day. 😊

My throat still feels like when I'd had my tonsils out, empty, raw, gritty and sort of tattered, yet when I actually run my tongue over the sore places ( I can move my tongue enough to actually do that now for the first time in about 3 weeks) it feels smoothe, so I think it must just be the nerve endings all damaged and burnt.

I'm getting very weak from not getting the right nutrition, I've noticed just walking about or having a bath ten minutes and Im basically exhausted and need a sit down, so I think I really need some vegetables and salad and vitamins, šŸ˜ž but after my soup success today, unless tomorrow I have a relapse, and everything's possible it changes hour to hour šŸ˜•, I will try to eat something a bit more substantial and vegetably.

My neck is almost back to its normal colour and skin texture now, just a couple of places still healing but no permanent scars I don't think šŸ‘

So bring on the weekend and see how I'm doing by Monday.
