Today I left the house( further than the back garden) for the first time in 18 days.

And I also drove the car, the first time since a week before xmas.

I only ventured about 2 miles to the doctors pharmacy and back.

But it felt huge.

After spending the last 2 ½ weeks in bed mainly, it felt like a huge step back to normality.

Also I had plans for eating tonight as I had tried a chunk of mince out of Paul's chilli the other night and was extremely pleased that it tasted really strong of meat. So tonight I had brought some chipolatas in the shopping, and seeing as the pancake at the weekend seemed sort of successful, toad in the hole was on the menu.

I made a separate one for me, with 2 little sausages and enough deep batter for it to end up puddingy rather than crispy.

Yes I could taste sausage, and the batter, and to help swallowing, I made up some finest turkey gravy granules I brought for Paul for making xmas lunch.

I had previous tried these granules about 2 weeks ago and couldn't taste a thing, so was extremely excited when I could taste the turkey flavour in thr cup of gravy I'd made to try and lube up the planned attempt.

I managed both chipolatas, half the stodgey Yorkshire and a couple of spoons of gravy🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️

So all in all, I should be celebrating a hugely successful day. 🤔🙄

I sat taking to Paul whilst he waded through his huge tray of toad in the hole, and we both agreed, any progress is amazing seeing as some people are still feeding themselves up a tube 6 months after treatment, let alone eating and tasting sausages when it not even 3 weeks.

My mouth and throat are still sore, and the periods of dry mouth are very annoying and uncomfortable, but the mucous is getting less and I have good tongue mobility and no issues with opening my jaw.

I still can't open my mouth when I yawn it hurts too much in my throat, and sneezing is really best avoided 😒 I try not to take large mouthfuls of drink as I dont 100% trust my swallow and I dont want it to go down the wrong way. The last thing I need is aspirated pneumonia 🙄

But I'm slowly coming back.

Even if it is 1 sausage at a time 😆
